There are two lasting bequests we can give our children. One is roots. The other is wings. ~Hodding Carter, Jr.

Cohen's "Pumpkin Patch"
Cohen saw the eye doctor for an evaluation of his left eye. The eye was diagnosed to be a little lazy and we were prescribed to put a patch on the right eye once a day for 30 minutes for the next month to see if we can get the left eye strengthened. The first night Cohen wore the patch, Zack put it on and when I got home from work, I walked in to Cohen exclaiming, "Look at my pumpkin patch!" He's got the right attitude!

Halloween Party at PLCC
First face painting (both actually sat still), first Krispy Kreme donut (both boys loved it and begged for more of the chocolate frosted with Halloween sprinkles), first PiƱata (both boys took a few swings and had a few misses), hayride, costume contest, pumpkin patch, toy raffle (both boys won something!!)...oh what fun it was at PLCC for their Halloween Party. Thanks to the Folnsbee's for inviting us. We all had a fun time!

Cohen's 2 Year Well Visit
Weight: 26lbs. (10-25%)
Height: 36" (75%)
A few things Dr. Satterfield pointed out this visit:
1. Cohen's left eye appears to be a little lazy and he encouraged us to see the optometrist sooner than our originally scheduled annual visit in December. The nystagmus is still present but his concern is more for the left eye. Hmmm, I hadn't noticed, really, but now I totally DO since he pointed it out.
2. Cohen needs to start a preventative nebulizer treatment, Pulmicort, twice a day for at least a month and maybe even through the winter (cringe because you all know I would rather keep this holistic but it doesn't look like I am going to win this one). This is to prevent his croupy cough and wheezing that inevitably comes with any little cold or sniffle that he gets. Every.Single.Time. He is to use the Albuterol we have been prescribed in the past as a "rescue" when the croupiness returns but only as needed.
3. Not to worry that Cohen refuses to drink milk or eat cheese. Dr. Satterfield says as long as Cohen is getting eggs and yogurt, he is okay with that for his dairy intake, that some children (and adults - ahem - ME!) just don't like milk. Fair enough.
In other news, we converted Cohen's bed to a toddler bed this weekend. His first sleep in it was for nap on Saturday and he fooled around in his room for over 90 minutes before Zack went in to find him with a poopy diaper. OOPS! Changed and put back down and Zack stayed in with him until he fell asleep because he was so wound up and already way past nap time. Last night, he slept just fine as well as nap today and he's out like a light right now after a long afternoon of fall festivities (costumes, hayride, pumpkin patch, pinata, etc. at PLCC with the Folnsbee's).
