Our Visit with Grandma and Grandpa Henry

Luke enjoyed several Nilla Wafers and Ritz crackers

Listening to Grandpa talk like a duck

Laughing at Grandpa's funny jokes

Not to enthusiastic about the fish pond after mommy ran into the house to grab the camera. He was all grins before I walked away!

A Little Spill

From the kitchen, I heard something fall on the floor in the foyer. I come around the corner to find this...

Then I hear Luke's feet pitter-patter down the hall and he runs by me like this...

I took the baby powder back in his room to put it away and found this...

Give him one minute alone and Luke is sure to find some kind of mischief to get into.

Snack Trap

I've seen kids with their snack traps everywhere but I never could find them in the store (Target, Walmart, Harris Teeter, Kohl's). A friend of mine tipped me off that Babies R Us carried them so off we went searching. Lo and behold, the snack trap was sold there :) After showing Luke how to reach in the trap to pull out a goldfish surprise, he caught on pretty quickly. He'd still rather it not have a lid on it - instant gratification has always been his thing. For now, it's preventing messes on the floor and in the car and keeping Luke from shoveling too many to chew in his mouth. It "traps" the stock pile of snack in the cup and the child is able to pull out only one or 2 of his desired treat. It also doesn't spill when tipped over, dropped, banged on something, etc. Love it!

Chuck E Cheese Playdate

Luke and I met a group of girls and their kids at Chuck E Cheese yesterday. I brought my point and shoot camera and only got a couple photos that weren't totally grainy and lousy. Luke didn't really know what to think at first. He clung to my leg the whole time and wasn't all that impressed with the toddler rides and jungle gym. He did love the Honey Pot game that Katie and Brooke found. That entertained us for quite a while and earned us a few prize tickets.

Brain Tease!

Take this quiz I found on Megan's blog. I got a 41 out of 100. It's crazy how many common words you can't come up with!

First Real Haircut

Zack and I decided enough was enough with the little trims we've been giving Luke's hair in the spots that needed it the most. We got out the clippers and Zack negotiated a No. 6 guard with me...I wanted a No.7 because I didn't want Luke to have a buzz cut. We gave Luke an all over hair cut for the first time. He cried lots of crocodile tears during the "procedure" but was all smiles as soon as we unplugged the clippers.

You Can Never Have too Many Goldfish

Because a handful just isn't enough.

Pint Sized Shopping Cart

Luke is very into pushing things around the house and putting things on or in his little walker so we decided to get him a shopping cart to satisfy his purpose.

Daddys little helper.

Where does this part go, Dad?

These things should already come assembled.

Is it almost done, or what?

I would prefer if Mickey wouldn't ride along.

That's better. Bye-Bye, Mickey.

Bears and doggie can ride along, though!!

Trendsetter

One jammie pants leg up, one jammie pants leg down. Silly.

You Know You're the Mommy of a Toddler When...

My mommy board had a discussion about some obvious signs that you're the mommy of a toddler. Here are the highlights, most of which I can already relate to:

You sing the Wiggles songs in your head and get so excited when they come on tha you dance around the room with your child..."en salada de fruta fresca".

You wear high heels while blow drying your hair because your child wants you to wear them.

You only eat at restaurants that offer crayons with their placemats.

You don't ask your husband if the mail came anymore, now its "did the monkey-mail come, did the monkey-mail come...?"

Your child's favorite accessory is one or more appendages covered in markers or pen.

You get your hair pulled and a kiss within 30 seconds.

You carry wet ones in your purse!

You pull your wallet out of your purse and Cheerios come out too!

When you find yourself saying, "uh oh" at work or in adult situations.

You're used as a tissue and don't realize it until you go out and there's a big snot stain on your pants.

You read yourself a children's book out loud to prove to a 17 month old that you are not paying attention to their tantrum.

When you are trying to have a business meeting and your child is in the house w/ you and you look over and say, "Excuse me for a sec, but my daughter has big girl panties around her neck and I need to get them off" to a guy who is childless and embarrassed.

Sudden silence makes you worry.

You have to explain that a tampon is NOT a chew toy!!! Now, please put it back in mommy's purse!

You get out your checkbook at the store and can't find a pen but you do have a yellow crayon.

You eat stale puffs (or Cheerios, or dried fruit) out of the high chair crevices and don't even think twice about it!

You have four purses in the car and only one belongs to you!

You're followed around by someone constantly closing every door or cabinet you've opened before you're ready.

You always have someone watching you use the bathroom.

You go to the grocery store to get band-aids and hydrogen peroxide and you explain to the cashier that you need the items because your husband has a "boo-boo".

Your idea of a shower consists of wiping baby wipes over your body!

You don't think twice about having a paci or sippy in your purse at any given time, even when your child isn't with you.

You honk your car horn to amuse your child and another driver takes offense.

You turn your child over in the middle of a parking lot and smell his/her butt to see if she has poops.

The backseat of your car looks like a cross between Toys R Us and the library.

You find toothpaste in the cabinet with your pots and pans, and the next day find it in your hamper.

You have to hold an item while the cashier scans it because you don't want her to have to touch the drool your child left all over said item after chewing on it.

When you let your child help push the cart at the grocery store, even though it takes twice as long and you always seem to be in someone's way.

Slick Rick

So, I go in to get Luke out of his crib this morning and as I approach his door, I hear the sound of bubbles coming from his Fisher Price Ocean Wonders Crib Aquarium. "Bloop, bloop, bloop." Luke often turns the sound on to keep him occupied for a few minutes and cuddles his loveys before his declaration that it's time to get up-throwing his loveys and paci's out of the crib and whining for rescue. I open the door and greet Luke before the whining starts. He quickly jabs at the Aquarium on/off button and turns it off, almost as if he was trying to keep it a secret that he was enjoying a moment of ocean sound bliss with his loveys. Didn't want to show Mommy his soft spot, huh? I had to giggle.

Kisses on Command

Luke has started giving kisses on command in the sweetest little way! His lips are mostly closed and dry (as opposed to the previous open mouth wet kisses) and he aims right for your lips. It will melt anyones heart! What a sweetie!
