Play Doh with Mima!

On Christmas Evening, my mom came over to visit and play with all of Luke's new toys with him. We sat him down to play with Play Doh and he actually got more into it than he ever has. He loved to poke at it and mash it into his high chair tray. It was fun to capture his facial expressions while he was exploring this salty, squishy, dough.

Santa Came

Luke loved opening his gifts from Santa! Santa brought him a Little People Airplane, a Parents My First Remote Control Car, and a set of Fisher Price Golf Clubs. It was such a fun morning, playing with the toys Santa brought. We had to hurry and get dressed to go to the Folnsbee's for Christmas breakfast at 9:30. We were all very hungry!!

Christmas Eve Gift

We didn't have any plans this Christmas Eve so we started our own little traditions. After a steak dinner at Outback Steakhouse, we came home and let Luke open a present. He got very excited to rip the paper of the box and find the Busy Ball Popper underneath! We quickly put it together and he had an absolute blast picking up the balls that popped off track and trying to put them back in the wrong hole as other balls were popping out. (Excuse the mis-matching outfit. Luke needed a partial outfit change when we got back from dinner)

A Project to Kill About 3 Minutes One Afternoon

Last week, I was really hoping I had stumbled on an activity that Luke would participate in for more than 15 seconds. I found this cool project on a blog I frequent (check out the rest of the blog when you get a chance...this girl is a hoot!), showing us how to make a "Bow-ti-ful Christmas Tree." I dug up some bows that have seen their better days (bent, bumped, smashed, ready for the trash) and a piece of construction paper. I drizzled glue on the paper in the shape of a tree and showed Luke how to stick them on the paper. He decided he'd rather pull them off the paper after I stuck them on and get glue all over him, the table, the floor, the chair... I calmly put the bows back in place and put the project out of reach. It's now hanging on our fridge for a festive and shiny decoration.

Yes, this is how I found Luke's safari hauler eloquently placed in the sink. That seems to be the new "catch all" for his trucks, big and small. I've found matchbox cars in there, too. Never a dull moment...

I took a big step out of my comfort zone one morning. I undressed Luke down to his diaper, plopped him in his high chair for breakfast, handed him a spoon and an open container of yogurt and let him have at it. He did a pretty darn good job of feeding himself 2/3 of the container before he was ready for me to take over.

After an hour and a half nap, we thought Luke was up for the afternoon. Oh, but he wasn't. Zack brought him downstairs and he fell back asleep within a couple of minutes. It's been a really long time since one of us has had the joy of naptime cuddles. Zack doesn't think he's ever had the opportunity - but this time, he had over an hour of these rare cuddles.

Pardon the quality of these photos but I just had to share. Luke and I met some friends at one of the largest indoor playgrounds I have ever seen - and it's only 20 minutes away!!! For $2 per child, mommies and kiddos were able to climb, slide, crawl, and dodge for as long as our hearts desired. An hour was enough to tucker us out and build up our appetites for lunch. This place is amazing and has a great food court surrounding it! We've already been back once with more friends since this trip.
